Exceptional Results - It’s What We Do

Dr. Sulyman-Scott puts your satisfaction and overall health first, so every procedure she offers is as minimally invasive as safely possible. An otoplasty is no exception. Here are a few more insights into the procedure, which can be performed with local anesthesia in our offices or under light sedation in the operating room:

  • During the ear surgery, she will make tiny incisions that are hidden behind your ears, invisible once healed.
  • Depending on your unique needs, your actual procedure may require a few hours.
  • After the surgery, she’ll put protective bandages around your ears and part of your head.
  • A few hours after your procedure, you can go home!

Enjoying Your Incredible Results

Your recovery time is all about protecting your newly reshaped ears. You should be able to return to your normal schedule a few days after your surgery. To help you have the best recovery possible, Dr. Sulyman-Scott will change your bandages for a soft headband that you’ll wear for approximately two weeks. You’ll also likely need to sleep on raised pillows, on your back. You may have some swelling, tenderness, bruising, redness, throbbing, and itching after your otoplasty.

Dr. Sulyman-Scott will give you an appropriate postoperative pain control regimen to ensure you remain comfortable. Within four to six weeks of your procedure, you should be able to return to all your usual strenuous physical activities, including sports. You should begin to see results within a week or two, with basic healing achieved in about six weeks, and will be fully healed after two to three months.
